Helping Your Horse Through the Shipping Process

Never transport a sick horse long distances or with another that has been exposed to sickness. Supplement with an immune support formula a few days before travel. Try to travel less than 12 hours at a time. If possible, stop every 3-4 hours to offer rest. Unload and allow the horse to briefly graze. If you're not able to unload, just stopping is beneficial to the horse as he won't be forced to counter the movement of the trailer. Offer water every time you stop. Provide adequate airflow in the trailer for ventilation. Allow the horse approximately 2-3 days to recover after a long trip, before expecting a great deal of physical activity from him.
