This small town country boy grew up in Allerton, Iowa on his family’s cattle ranch where riding horses was part of everyday life. He started training horses at a young age and competed throughout high school rodeo on horses he had trained himself. Luke attended North Eastern Oklahoma Community College on a rodeo scholarship and then transferred to Missouri Valley College, where he met his wife Erin, who also competed at the college rodeos. After graduation in 2001, the couple moved back to Allerton where Luke started a career as a full-time horse trainer. Jones Performance Horses was officially founded in 2002 and Luke continues to compete in roping, reining and cow horse events all across the country. When Luke isn’t showing himself, he is coaching his wife, an established Non-Pro, or one of their three boys: Will, Cort and Lane – who all compete in the NRCHA.
