Erin Taormino joined the ranks of NRCHA’s Million Dollar Riders in 2024. She is the wife to Anthony, mother to Westley and co-owner of Taormino Performance Horses in Dennis, Texas where the couple specializes in training reined cow horses. After growing up in Canada, Taormino made her way to the states showing horses at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. She remained in the U.S. after the show and bounced around to a few places in Texas loping horses. That’s when she met Ron Ralls, renowned horse trainer, NRCHA Million Dollar Rider, World’s Greatest Horseman® and member of the association’s Hall of Fame. Ralls took her under his wing and taught her about the reined cow horse industry, helped better her horsemanship and introduced her to Anthony, who she would marry in 2006. After leaving Ralls' ranch, the couple started working for Todd Bergen, another prestigious NRHA and NRCHA Million Dollar Rider known for his versatility in multiple disciplines. It was her time with Bergen that really honed in her skills to becoming a reined cow horse trainer. Since then, the couple has gone out on their own and built a program from the ground up. While Erin gets most of the attention showing their horses, Anthony’s efforts to start the colts is critical to their success. On March 1, 2025, all of their hard work paid off as Taormino became the first woman to win the coveted NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman® title aboard Hazardouz Material. This 9-year-old red roan stallion, owned by Linda Mars, has been in the Taorminos' training program since she picked him out for Mars as a 2-year-old. “He’s a special horse,” she says. “He’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime horses. He never disappoints, and, honestly, I feel like he gets better with age.”
