Sanitation Technician

Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager

Scope of Position:

Primarily responsible for overall facility sanitation with some additional quality control tasks. Sanitation includes, but is not limited to daily cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and utensils, as well as daily, weekly, monthly and other periodic tasks as launched in Master Control data base. Quality Control tasks may include: swabbing and approving equipment prior to use, approving room and equipment use, and various manufacturing line checks

Specific Duties:

  • Clean and sanitize equipment, rooms and facilities in accordance with SOPs and GMPs.
  • Complete cleaning logs in Master Control to document daily, weekly, monthly and annual cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain the cleaning room, cleaning utensils, floor scrubbers, and Sani-Matic cleaner in organized, clean and working status.
  • ATP swab and inspect cleaned equipment and approve for manufacturing use.
  • Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are in supply.
  • Ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, organized, GMP compliant and visually appealing status.
  • Maintain accurate records in a manner consistent with GMP regulations.
  • Makes recommendations to improve Product Quality/Quality Assurance/GMP standards.
  • Assist the QA manager in performing internal audits.
  • Create relevant and appropriate task related SOPs.
  • Assist with various activities relating to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain strict adherence to OSHA Safety and PPE requirements.

Personal Requirements

As well as a hunger to learn and succeed in manufacturing, the position requires the ability to work a full shift, come to work on time, work overtime as needed and the ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be well-organized, detail oriented, and able to work within deadlines as well as under pressure without taking shortcuts that may affect the end result. Understanding the key role sanitation plays in basic food safety is paramount.

Education Requirements

  • Required
  • High School Diploma and extensive experience in plant quality/food safety/sanitation
  • Experience in sanitation and food safety
  • Computer skills: database forms, Excel, Word
  • Preferred
  • College education
  • Certification or training as a food plant sanitarian
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)
