An alumni of the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Herthel founded the Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center together with his wife Sue in 1972. In 1995, Dr. Herthel is credited with revolutionizing the use of bone marrow derived stem cell therapy in equine patients, and continues to be a renowned expert in regenerative medicine and the Biological Approach to Healing. Committed to furthering the reach of biological medicine, Dr. Herthel developed Platinum Performance® in 1996 to speed healing in equine patients after orthopedic surgery. Dr. Herthel remains an integral part of Platinum Performance®, and is heavily involved in clinical research and product development.
Dr. Judy achieved his veterinary degree from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Following an internship in large animal medicine and surgery at Texas A&M University and a residency in equine surgery and performance evaluation at UC Davis, Dr. Judy joined the team at Alamo Pintado to continue his work in practice as a renowned equine surgeon. Recognized as a world leader in MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), Dr. Judy travels throughout the U.S. and internationally lecturing on the benefits of MRI as the gold standard in veterinary diagnostics.
Dr. Stratton-Phelps graduated from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine with her DVM in 1996, and completed her MPVM degree in 1999. After working as an intern at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital, Dr. Stratton-Phelps returned to UC Davis for an equine emphasis large animal medicine residency. Dr. Stratton-Phelps was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Large Animal Medicine at the University of Georgia from 2005-2006, and remains an adjunct professor in the Department. She has worked as a clinical nutritionist with Platinum Performance® since 2006, and supports the Platinum Advisor Team in providing nutritional and supplementation recommendations.
A graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and a native of Versailles, KY, Dr. David Priest has an extensive background in performance horse medicine and training. As a research and development veterinarian at Platinum Performance, Dr. Priest works with the entire
R & D team to develop new and existing products. This process relies on a coordinated effort of in-house and sponsored research. Dr. Priest is also a competitive road cyclist with a special interest in athletic performance nutrition.
