Human Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the best way to take Platinum Performance Wellness Formula and Platinum Bars?
Most people eat the granular for breakfast or as a midday snack. Add a couple of tablespoons to yogurt, oatmeal or juice. Be creative! You can eat it straight off the spoon if you like, too. As for Platinum Bars, most people use them as midday pick-me-up, to fuel a workout (it won't mess with your stomach) or to replenish stores after training or competition. They make great snacks anytime of day, but they're a smarter, healthier snack than you'll find anywhere.
My two-year-old loves Platinum Bars. He can't get enough of them. Is it OK to feed them to him on demand?
That's great news, but remember kids need a range of foods for proper development. Platinum makes a great snack but don't use it as a meal replacement.
Why do Platinum Performance food supplements need to be refrigerated when there not in use?
Mainly because of their essential fatty acid content. We want you to have the freshest product available. One of the things that sets our food supplements apart from others is a proprietary made-to-order, no-heat, no-light processing that ensures that you get a product of the highest integrity and freshness. Keep them in the fridge to make sure they stay that way. But by all means take them with you when you're on the go. They're date stamped so you can track their freshness.
I am a senior. How are Platinum food supplements helpful for me?
Platinum food supplements contain a host of anti-aging agents including omega 3 fatty acids, acetyl L-carnitine, calcium, glucosamine, biotin, rice bran, selenium, vitamin E and zinc gluconate.
I am pregnant. Can I use Platinum food supplements?
Platinum granular and bars are an excellent nutrition boost for pregnant moms. They do contain some herbs so if you're taking medication make sure you check with your doctor for interactions. Beyond that, Platinum contains nutrients that may be missing from your diet. Key ones include omega 3 fatty acids, particularly DHA (need for fetal and infant brain and vision development) and folic acid. Studies show that pregnant women at 36 weeks gestation show significantly lower levels of omega-3 EFAs, deficits that persisted until 6 weeks postpartum. Some studies also suggest that omega 3 deficiencies may play a role in postpartum depression.
I have arthritis. Will the Wellness Formula help me?
Platinum Wellness is an ideal foundational product for someone who has arthritis. It will help improve the balance of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids in your body. This is a well-studied documented way to address arthritis. You should also consider adding Platinum's Glucosamine or Ortho-Chon to your daily supplement intake.
I'm having a tough time staying focused in high school classes, especially ones in the middle of the day. My mom wants me to pack a Platinum Bar every day. Why should I choose these over a candy bar or an energy bar?
That is, as they say, a no-brainer! Several landmark studies have highlighted the importance of the longer chain omega-3 fatty acids like docosahexanoic acid (DHA) in normal brain function. Supplementing with DHA may help improve your ability to concentrate. But just as important, Platinum bars supply tasty nutrition that increases energy and alleviates fatigue. Most important, they aren't filled with the sugar and fillers you'll find in candy and those other bars, which may bring you up momentarily but sending you crashing in a heartbeat.
I don't like to take a bunch of supplements. Can I just eat the granular formula or the bars and still meet my daily needs?
Yes and no. Besides being especially palatable, the best thing about Platinum Performance is that it's an all-inclusive supplement. It provides a convenient, healthy way to boost the quality of your diet. But keep in mind that everyone has different vitamin requirements: there is no valid, universal standard. All people require the same 50 or so nutrients, but they differ in the amounts they need. Each of us possesses differences in anatomy, biochemistry and genetics. Food supplements are important, but they're additions to a sound diet, not replacements for it. Instead of trying to compensate for a bad diet, strive for balance. Eat wholesome food as consistently as possible. Platinum developed this product to supplement your diet, not totally replace all of your needed nutrients.
When I look at other nutrition or energy bars I see oils like canola in the ingredients. What's wrong with this?
Nothing in particular, except canola is a omega 6 fatty acid and you'll probably already eat more of those than you should. Let's review some key points about fatty acids: Omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids are "good fats." Alpha-linolenic acid (LNA) is the parent omega 3 essential fatty acid and linoleic acid (LA) is the parent omega 6 essential fatty acid. They are "essential" because we can't synthesize them - they must be obtained from the diet - and are needed for optimum health. Intake of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids should be in a balanced ratio for optimum health, but almost everyone eats too many omega 6s. In fact, most Americans eat too much LA or omega 6, which disrupts their fatty acid balance and promotes disease. But supplementing with omega 3 fatty acids can restore proper balance. You'll need to have a doctor perform a fatty acid profile on you if you want to know how out of balance you are, but then again, you'll probably feel a lot better once the ration in your body is more in line with the 2:1 ratio. Platinum Performance is rich in omega 3-EFAs.
If I am taking Platinum Wellness do I need any other supplements?
In many ways nutritional supplements are a form of "nutritional insurance." It makes way more sense to prevent disease than to treat it. That doesn't mean you shouldn't self-treat diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, and even cancer using nutritional therapy. Just make sure you start with an accurate diagnosis, are fully informed about what you're doing and are aware of the potential pitfalls. We recommend working with a well-informed, supportive doctor.
