Why is the Calcium:Phosphorus ratio of Platinum Performance Equine not 2:1?
Platinum Performance Equine is designed to fill the nutrient gaps that commonly exist in the equine diet by providing a source of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, essential amino acids, vitamins and trace minerals. Calcium and Phosphorus are macro-minerals, which are supplied predominantly by the forage, or feed the horse ingests. Platinum Performance is a very nutrient dense supplement. When fed as recommended Platinum accounts for approximately 1.5% of the total weight of the average daily feed intake of the horse. Therefore, the Calcium:Phosphorus ratio of Platinum Performance has a relatively insignificant effect on the total Calcium: Phosphorus Ratio of the horse’s diet. If the overall Calcium: Phosphorus ratio of your horse’s feed and forage is suboptimal, we recommend discussing this with your veterinarian.
Is the amino acid Tryptophan in Platinum Performance considered to be an unapproved supplement for use in show horses?
Tryptophan is a naturally occurring amino acid found in many foods and equine feeds. Platinum Performance Equine Wellness and Performance Formula contains low levels of naturally occurring tryptophan. This level is of no concern for show horse testing compliance.
Why are there essential nutrient deficiencies in modern feeds?
Most hay and grain crops come from trace mineral deficient fields, and many vitamins and essential oils are lost in storage and processing.
Why are stabled horses prone to malnutrition?
They only have access to water, grain, and hay that is provided. They don’t have access to a variety of fresh wild grasses and grains grown on nutrient fertile soil.
