Newborn Foals

When you decide to breed your mare, it is important to make sure she is in the best possible health to improve the odds for her to conceive. Supplementation can play a significant role in the success of your mare's breeding. In fact, to examine possible effects of Omega-3 fatty acids on fertility, researchers at Colorado State University's Equine Reproduction Laboratory studied mares with an average age of 20, most of which had histories of suboptimal fertility. The mares were fed a typical equine diet of hay and commercial feed and after 6 weeks, the mares collectively had a 23% pregnancy rate. When the study was then duplicated with the same mares, after 6 weeks of supplementation with Platinum Performance® Equine, and a diet of mostly hay, the pregnancy rated improved by 129%.
Stallions
The success and longevity of a breeding stallion's career depends a great deal on the quality of his semen. Especially in an age where cryogenically preserved semen can mean years of foal crops beyond a stallion's live breeding career. So what can a stallion owner do to improve his stallion's semen quality? The dietary intake of Omega-3 fatty acids, DHA, specifically, has shown some powerful effects on stallion fertility. Recently, a 14 week study showed that DHA supplementation, like that found in Platinum Potency®, protected against some of the sperm damaging effects generally seen with cooling and freezing. The researchers went on to suggest that even greater benefits may have been noted had the background diet been more flax-based, as Platinum Performance® Equine.
